Chosen stimuli, lens, and narrative

Chosen Stimuli, Lens, and Narrative

After reviewing all the stimuli, I eventually chose the second stimuli; The Tale of a Fairy by Karl Lagerfeld, and the third stimuli; David Lynch on Cooking Quinoa. Furthermore, I chose poetic methodology lens and gender narrative theme.

From the quinoa stimuli, the lighting and the instrument background made it seems like a dramatic and tensing scene although the character was only cooking his dinner. I learned that settings could play a vital role in building the atmosphere and emotions. Likewise, from the attire that the character wore and the scene when he drink wine whilst waiting for the cooking quinoa, depict his high social status.

The Tale of a Fairy by Karl Lagerfeld plays a lot with gender and sexuality. The narrative significantly portrays feminism, as the main characters are women and they play as the dominant gender in the elegant lifestyle. The settings, colour, and outfits contribute in building the glamorous theme so that the audience could situate themselves into the scenes. The emotions that the characters expressed are very rich that makes us feel more empathic.

In my concept book, I want to portray series of feminism through collages and illustration that express women sexuality and lifestyle. I will also added some poetic captions to my concept book to enhance the dramatic emotions and briefly explain the figures.
